National investment volumes totaled $6.4 billion in Q3 2020. This marked an increase of 14.6% quarter over quarter, and a decrease of 35.2% compared to the trailing five year quarterly average.
The three most active asset classes in Q3 2020 were the multifamily, industrial and ICI land sectors which saw acquisitions total $1.7, $1.7 and $ 1.4 billion, respectively.
Notable transactions from Q3 2020 included the purchase of Major Mackenzie Dr W in Toronto for $90.6M (ICI land), Plaza 500 in Vancouver for $82.5 million (multifamily) and 277 Wellington St W in Toronto for $78.5 million (office).
The most active purchasers in Q3 2020 were Private Canadian Investors as institutional capital flows remained cautious. This group accounted for 50.5% of acquisitions volumes in Q3 2020.
